Many colors will need to have some ox gall added to them to make them spread well. Marbling ox gall is a surfactant. It makes the colors float and spread out on the surface.
After you start marbling, if you find that some colors are not spreading well, a drop or two of gall should be added to them.
The Ox gall should be added into the bottle of paint, never directly into the marbling tray. Some colors require more gall than others. You can figure out by trial: if a color does not spread well add one drop to the color and test it; then another if necessary, etc.etc
Our prepared colors usually are ready for use but if you need to add some ox gall use only one or two drops at a time.
It is advisable to thoroughly mix the color before each marbling session and then test each color by sprinkling a few drops on the size to see how it is responding.
Adding drops of ox gall into your jars of colors will make them a bit paler.
